Privacy
How we look after your information
We want to know how our concerts and website are doing, without following anyone around the internet. This page explains what we do and don’t do, in plain English. Last updated 20 October 2026.
No cookies
Our websites don’t set cookies or store anything on your device to track you, so there is no cookie banner.
No profiles
We count visits, not people. We don’t build a profile of you or recognise you when you return.
No selling, no adverts
We don’t sell or share your details for marketing, and we run no advertising trackers.
Who we are
Edinburgh University Chamber Orchestra (EUCO) is a student society of Edinburgh University Students' Association (EUSA), a registered Scottish charity (SC015800). This page covers the EUCO websites: this one, our ticket shop and our education site.EUSA’s own privacy policyalso applies to its societies. Questions about either can come to us at[email protected].
What we count, without cookies
We use PostHog, set up in its cookieless mode, to see which pages are useful and where the ticket shop loses people. Because nothing is stored on your device, a visitor is counted once per day and cannot be recognised on a later day. Here is everything it records:
Which pages are viewed
The page address, where you arrived from, your country, and your device and browser type.
A short list of button presses
For example "Get tickets", "Donate", playing a concert recording, or opening a photo. Only the name of the button and the concert it belongs to are noted.
Steps through the ticket shop
That someone chose tickets, started paying, cancelled, or reached the thank-you page, with the number of tickets. Never who they are.
Completed orders (from our own server)
An order number, the concert, the quantity and the amount, so we can tell how sales are going. No customer details are attached.
What is never sent
- Names, email addresses or phone numbers
- Ticket codes
- What you type into a form or search box (apart from the public FAQ search words)
- Anything that follows you from one day, or one website, to the next
Like any website, our servers and PostHog receive your IP address when your browser makes a request. It is used to work out your country and to keep the site secure, not to identify you.
If you buy tickets
To sell you a ticket we need your name and email address, what you bought, and the payment confirmation from Stripe. We use them to email your tickets and receipt, to let you in on the night, to deal with refunds or problems, and to keep the financial records a charity is required to keep. At the door, scanning a ticket records that it was used and when, so one ticket cannot be used twice. Only committee members who need it to run a concert can see orders.
Refunds. Tickets are non-refundable unless we cancel the concert in circumstances outside our control. See the refund policy.
If you contact us
Messages sent through the contact form, or by email, are read by the committee and used only to reply to you.
The mailing list
We only email you news if you asked us to, by signing up. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can also ask us to remove you at any time. Ticket emails (your tickets and receipt) are a separate matter: they are sent because you bought something, not because of the mailing list.
Other companies involved
These services help the websites work. Each has its own privacy policy.
- Stripe
- Takes card payments for tickets. You enter your card details on Stripe’s own page; we never see or store your card number. Stripe’s page may set the cookies it needs to keep payments secure.
- Resend
- Sends our emails: your tickets and receipt, replies to enquiries, and the mailing list.
- PostHog (EU data centre)
- Counts visits as described above, without cookies, using its EU data centre.
- Google Fonts
- The typefaces are downloaded from Google when a page loads, so Google receives your IP address in the usual way for any web request.
- CARTO / OpenStreetMap
- Draw the venue map. Your browser asks their servers for the map tiles, which includes your IP address.
- YouTube and Vimeo
- Concert recordings stay as a plain picture until you press play. Only then does your browser contact the video site (YouTube in its privacy-enhanced mode).
- Instagram (Meta)
- The photos in our Instagram section are loaded from Instagram’s servers.
